报告人简介：
Dr. Chao earned his BS and MS degree from the National Cheng Kung University （台湾成功大学）and National Tsing-Hua University（国立清华大学） respectively in Taiwan, and a PhD in Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois. He has been in high education in US for nearly 30 years and currently holds John Ducate Sr. Endowed Professorship at the University of South Carolina. His research area is in solid mechanics and he is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Experimental Mechanics.

U.S. Higher Education：
evolvement, current status and admission policy
One can’t overlook or reject the fact that higher education in the United States has emerged into a super power in the past 150 years. This talk will discuss the evolvement, current landscape, and its admission policy of this education system in general. It is designed for understanding the US college systems and useful to those who are interested in coming to US for advanced degrees.
