PhD Scholarships in Wireless Communications at Macquarie University
Please apply by September 30.
Supervisor: Professor Stephen Hanly
Application forms need to be mailed to Macquarie University (to the address on the form) - there is no online submission process.
The research project is not specified, and the positions are open to candidates with their own research ideas, but I have current research interests in spectrum sharing, small cells, and mmwave networks, amongst other areas. You should write a research proposal (in your own words) as part of the application process. This is mainly to see how you write, and whether you have some ideas about research.
The scholarships are for 4 years, including a stipend of $25,392 per annum (tax exempt), and tuition is also covered.
More information about my scholarships, and the application form, can be found here:
Please scroll down the list to find “SCIENCE: Engineering – Wireless Networks”.
Scholarship eligibility requirements can be found here:

The Macquarie PhD is undertaken over 3 years. Most applicants in Engineering (even with a coursework masters) will not qualify to directly enter the PhD program, but you can do one year of the MRES in preparation for the PhD. My scholarships are for 4 years, and cover both the one year preparation and the 3 year PhD. You will obtain both a MRES degree and a PhD degree from Macquarie University if you get a scholarship, choose to come here, and work hard!
You can start here in late 2014, or early-mid 2015.
