  1. Course Introduction (including teaching goals and requirements) within 300 words:

In the research field of mobile communications, mathematically modeling and simulatingthe system with the aid of computer are the essential skills for the graduate students.

From the theory point of view, the purpose of mobile communication studies is to reveal the relationship between the system parameters and the system performance. However, with the even complex mobile communication systems, the compute-aided performance evaluation methods are more preferred than the conventional analytical ones. In addition, although sometimes the analytical results can be obtained, it still needs to be verified through computer simulation.

From the engineering point of view, the effectiveness of the theoretically proposed system design or algorithm can be verified by computer-aided simulations, which is more economical than the hardware verification.

Contents of the course: simulation and modeling methodology for mobile communication systems, simulation for signals and systems, simulation for physical layer, and simulation for MAC layer.

This elective course is suitable for both the master students and the doctoral students in communication and information systems.
