Title: Single-mode Dual-band Metantenna Using Lorentz-Type Dispersive Metamaterials

Intro: Materials form the foundation of antenna design, and their characteristics can provide new opportunities for innovation. This talk illustrates the creation of an antenna operating in a single mode at dual frequencies by leveraging Lorentz-type dispersive metamaterials. The methodology is inspired by the observation that materials described by the Lorentz model exhibit a higher refractive index at lower frequencies and a lower refractive index at higher frequencies relative to their resonance frequency. This property enables an antenna loaded with Lorentz-type dispersive material substrates to operate with the same electrical size at both lower and higher frequencies. This phenomenon opens the possibility for an antenna to generate single-mode radiation across both lower and higher frequency bands. To achieve the dispersive permeability of Lorentz-type metamaterials, single-layer dual-split resonance rings (SRRs) are proposed. Subsequently, a single-mode dual-band patch antenna is designed to validate the proposed method within the Sub-6 GHz bands.
